Watch Over Sheep

An all-night watch by three off-duty constables and a farmer armed with rifles and a shotgun was kept oyer sheep and lambs on a Halswell farm on Wednesday night. The dogs which savaged and killed some of the flock on Sunday and Tuesday nights did not arrive, and the vigil was kept again last night. The owner o( the farm, Mr H. L. W. Cox, of Templeton’s road. Halswell, has lost sheep valued at more than £lOO in the two attacks.

He said yesterday he was prepared to stay out all night, every night, until the dogs reappeared and were shot.
