Funds For Gallery
About £2OO was raised yesterday at a sale held in the Durham Street Art Gallery by the Canterbury Society of Arts. The proceeds of the sale will go to the building fund for the society’s proposed new art gallery. More than 90 pictures, all gifts to the society by members, were offered for sale as well as a number of prints, and other, objets d’art. Other items offered included jewellery, crockery, and greeting cards which featured reproductions of paintings and sculpture from the society’s permanent collection.
The sale will continue today until 9 p.m. All items not previously sold will be offered at auction in the evening.
