Unemployment Figures
Unemployment figures in August were virtually the same as those the previous month, said the District Superintendent of the Department of Labour (Mr C. D. Macan) yesterday. Unemployed in August, he said, were 29 males and six females. Placements were up by almost 50. Total placements were 104 males and 20 females. “We are still able to find employment for all fit people,” he said. “The number of male vacancies is pretty steady at 122.”
