Govt. Printers Reject Offer
(New Zealand Preu Association) WELLINGTON, August 31. The Public Service Association has not accepted the Government’s offer to settle the Government printers’ dispute.
The association’s secretary (Mr D. P. Long) said tonight that the P.S.A. had put forward a counter-offer to the Government this afternoon. “The State Services Commission and the Minister of Labour (Mr Shand) have been advised of our offer and will be given time to consider it. “In the meantime, the printers will maintain the ban on overtime.” The dispute is on the payment of a £5O ruling-rate survey recently awarded all State employees, except the 300 Government printers. The overtime ban took effect in Government printing offices in Wellington on Tuesday.
