Zambia
Sir,—President Kaunda of Zambia finds it necessary to excuse his absence. First he says he is too angry with Mr Wilson for failing to bring Rhodesia to its knees: , and second, he says the strike in the copper mines calls for his personal attention. Could the real reason be that President Kaunda dare not leave Zambia for fear pf being de-
posed? He has been forced to dispense with his white police and now lives near Lusaka behind formidable barricades to protect him from Chinese Communist violence. If such people want to leave the Commonwealth why stop them? They are a very expensive and unreliable item.—Yours, etc., J. A. D. ANDERSON. August 31, 1966.
