MEETINGS IN CHILE
Professor Knox To Attend
Professor G. A. Knox, head of the zoology department of the University of Canterbury, will go to Santiago, Chile, next month to attend meetings of the Special Commitlee for Antarctic Research and the Special Committee for Oceanic Research, both international agencies which coordinate scientific work and advise member governments. Professor Knox will lead a symposium on tides and the inter-tidal zone.
He expects to renew acquaintance with many scientists he met in Santiago in 1958 when he was a member of the Royal Society’s Darwin centennial expedition, directed from London.
Still Serious.—Miss Janine Makaruk, who was injured in a shooting incident in Auckland last week, was reported by the Auckland Hospital yesterday to be still seriously ill. —(P.A.)
