FACTORY IN ARANUI
Permission Given The Town and Country Planning Appeal Board, sitting in Christchurch, made an order by consent yesterday permitting Dominion Yarns and Fabrics, Ltd., to build a factory in Bickerton street, Aranui. The company (Mr J. H. Polson) sought a special departure from the Christchurch City Council’s district planning scheme to build its factory on residential land. It will make bulked yams and elasticised fabrics. Objections were lodged by the Aranui Progress League and certain residents, but they have now consented to the building of the factory subject to certain conditions agreed to by the company. Mr K. A. Gough appeared for the objectors and Mr P. G. Hutchesson for the City Council. Members of the board are Messrs L. W. P. Watts (chairman), L. P. Blunt, and E. Somers.
