Fewer At Fair
Fewer people visited the New Zealand Industries Fair on Saturday than attended on the same day last year. Only 14.494 persons attended compared with 16,119 last year. The total attendance is now 56,772—1500 more than for the first nine days of the fair last year. The secretary-manager (Mr R. T Alston) said that there had been a drop in attendance at the end of the week because of three wet, cold days Although Saturday’s figure was down. last year’s figure was a record and the day had been warm and sunny.
“The crowd was very large in the evening," Mr Alston said “Throughout the day the attendance was only light. Many of those attending were visitors to the city. “We are more than pleased with results so far. With warmer weather we expect attendances to pick up again.”
