The University full-back, D. C. Leary, and the wing, P. Carter, saved some awkward situations when Shirley was in full cry but could not stem the flow indefinitely. Shirley led 5-3 at half-time. Linwood H.S. Unbeaten The Linwood High School first fifteen maintained its unbeaten record in fixtures this year when it defeated Kaikorai Valley High School by 20 points to 11. The game was fast, open and exciting as both back-lines used the ball on every possible occasion. For Linwood High School, tries were scored by the winger, Burgess, three, and by Coburn and Camfield. Phillips converted one try and kicked a penalty to bring his personal points tally for the season to 105. Cooksley, at half-back, and McGuigan as second five-eighths were outstanding in a fine back, line. The loose forwards, Coburn and Mitchel!, were also very prominent.
