UNIVERSITY HOCKEY
Good Win To Australia (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Superior ball control and positional play paved the way for an Australian victory in the universitis hockey match against New Zealand. The final score was 4-1, with Australia leading 2-1 at half-time. The conditions al Hobson Park, Auckland, were ideal with a hard but even surface well , shorn of grass. ( In spite of having played 14 matches in their 14-day visit—with only one defeat—Australian Universities had the stamina to produce a storming finish. New Zealand Universities impressed in the first half, with the dominating figure the centre-half. S. Maister. There was no denying the Australian supremacy in the second half. The tight defence with its speed to the ball, gave little scope to the close passing, often square. New Zealand style.
