Schol.landor won his fourth gold medal, and Miss C. Ball set another American record in the United States championships on Saturday, Associated Press reported. Five world records have been broken and one equalled. 13 meeting marks smashed and two equalled, and four American relay records established in the first three days of the four-day championships. The 15-year-old, Miss P. Watson, who set a world record on Friday in the women’s 200 metres freestyle, had an anchor leg of 2mln 13.1 sec in th* women’s 800 metres relay. The first three swimmers were N. Gustavson, 2min 15.8 sec; N. Ryan, 2mln 14.1 sec; and C. Kolb, 2min 12.4 sec.
Schollander, who set two world records on the first two days, had a Imin 57.95ec anchor leg in helping Santa Clara to a meeting and American record of 7min 56.95ec in the men's 800 metres freestyle relay.
Miss Ball twice broke the American record in the women’s 200 metres breaststroke with 2min 44.8 sec in the heats and 2min 44.45ec in the final.
