Crowd At Fair

The attendance for the' first three days of the New Zealand Industries fair at Canterbury Court was 18,371 The attendance for the first three days of the 1965 show was 13.364. The attendance on Saturday was 11.151, compared with 8516 in 1965. It was the biggest for a first Saturday of the show since the record in 1961. At 8 p.m. on Saturday more than 2000 people were waiting to gain admittance. To cope with that number the fair controllers opened an additional ticket window. “The main attraction of the fair seems to be the free circus which has a capacity of 2000 for each show and each show has been packed out,” said the secretary of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Assocition (Mr R. T. Alston).
