Sir,—l still maintain that when you condense or abridge a letter in fairness to the correspondent it should be stated, as regards your foot note to my letter on the Railways “that I as an ardent advocate of debt free use of national credit would approve of the Government’s method of using this jiggery pokery way of dealing in the matter in spite of our Prime Minister and Minister of Finance stating they would on no account use national credit, so how could you term it a neat piece of bookkeeping when you admit that you have always regarded it as financial jiggery pokery, in regards to not putting in my letter on the rise in rates and brushing it off with the note, “we see no reason to reopen the recent correspondence on rates is not correct as the new demands have only been out a few days and I consider your biased attitude in the matter is most unfair and not cricket for two wrongs don’t make a right.—Yours, etc., S.
