CLOSURE OF UNIT
No Knowledge Of Proposal Mr J. G. Laurenson, secretary to the North Canterbury Hospital Board, said he had no knowledge of any proposal to dose the medical unit at Princess Margaret Hospital. Miss M. B. Howard, member of Parliament for Sydenham, had said in. Parliament on Wednesday night that attempts were being made to close it, The Minister of Health (Mr McKay) said he knew nothing about any attempt to do so. The Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk) said the Health Department had recommended that it be closed. Dr. D. W. Beaven. director of the medical unit, said he had no comment on the matter.
