Captain J. C. Osborne, of the Black Watch, has arrived at Government House to take up his appointment as aide-de-camp to the GovernorGeneral in place of Captain A. H. Parker Bowles, who will leave New Zealand on August 25.—(P.A.) Professor E. R. Collins, of Auckland, has been appointed a member of the University Grants Committee.—(P.A.) Mr J. M. McEwen, the secretary* of Island Territories and Maori Affairs, has been nominated by the Government to attend a United Nations seminar on apartheid, in Brasilia from August 23 to September 5. —(P.A.)
Mr W. Pearce, of Wellington, was elected president of the Contractors’ Federation at its annual conference at New Plymouth. He was formerly vice-president The vice-presi-dent is Mr R. C. Neville, of Christchurch.—(P.A.) Mr R. Ballinger has been appointed to represent the Canterbury Education Board on the Riccarton High School board of governors in place of Mr E. F. Wilde. Mr A. S. Murray (chairman) and Mr A. Manning will represent the Canterbury Education Board at the New Zealand Education Boards’ Association conference in Wanganui at the end of September.
