Charge Against Jockey
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright* SYDNEY. A Brisbane jockey has been charged with using a battery saddle in a race in Sydney. He is A. Whiteman, rider of Mustang in the Hawkesbury Handicap on June 15. Mustang, starting at 2T, won easily from Crescent and Sensational Girl. Whiteman, the owner, E. Stubbs, and the trainer, J. Jones, have been cited to appear today before the Sydney A.J.C. committee. The allegation of using a battery saddle is one of several charges the A.J.C. has made against Whiteman in a formal document. The A.J.C. has not released details of the allegations. Mustang’s win at Hawkesbury was his first start in New South Wales for his present connexions. Whiteman rode Mustang in one race after the Hawkesbury win. It was the Rosehill Handicap (lOf.) on June 18. Starting at 13/2, Mustang finished last.
