THE INTER-ISLAND PASSENGER STEAMER HINEMOA, which will make her last service trip when she sails from Lyttelton for Wellington next Monday evening. She is expected to be a full ship, with more than 830 passengers on board. Built in 1946 at Barrow-in-Furness by Vickers-Armstrongs, Ltd., the Hinemoa has had an uneventful and trouble-free career. Her withdrawal will mark the end of an era, for both the new Wahine and the reconstructed Maori are drive-on vessels. This photograph shows the Hinemoa berthed at Lyttelton. The ship has been placed on the market for sale.
