Not Selling Quads
(N Z. Press Association) ROTORUA. August 18. The odds against Ngafcuru’s identical quadruplet calves being born were 200 million to one. said a technician of the Ruakura research station today.
The technician, Mr E. D. O’Reilly, said that in 45 years of being associated with dairy herds he had never heard of identical quads being born, or of quads being born to a cow in New Zealand. Mr O’Reilly, who checks all reports of
Identical twin heifer births, inspected the Ngakuru quads at Mr M. H. Pryce's farm yesterday. Mr Pryce today said that the Ruakura research station had made an offer of £35 for the calves, but he was going to keep them. The station would have treated the identical quads as two pairs of twins for tests, he said. Born last Sunday, the tan and white Ayreshire quads now weigh 251 b and are feeding from their mother.
