UPGRADING HIGHWAYS
Counties Urged To Help ZN Zt Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Aug. 18. Little purpose would be gained by upgrading State highways to class two if country roads remained at a lower grading, a National Roads Board member told -he annual conference of the Associated General Contractors’ Federation at New Plymouth today. Mr D. D. Merritt, the commercial road users’ representative on the board, told the conference the board’s policy was to upgrade State highways at every opportunity Counties were asked to do the same. Some were helpful. but others were slow.
