TROOPS’ NEW STATION
| Vietnam ‘Not Considered’ <X.Z. Press Association! WELLINGTON, Aug. 15. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said today that the Government had not considered sending New Zealand troops serving in Malaysia to Vietnam now confrontation had ended. “It has not been discussed and I have no present intention of raising it at the Cabinet,” he said. Asked if New Zealand’s Can berra bomber squadron based at Singapore could be sent to Vietnam, he replied: “No consideration has been given to sending the Canberras to Vietnam." Mr Holyoake said the Government had not decided whether to leave the squadron in Singapore or bring it back to New Zealand.
