More Bacon And Ham
Production of ham and bacon in 1964-1965 was 17,658 tons, valued at £6.6 million, says the Government Statistician. This compares with 17,326 tons produced in 19631964, valued at £5,9 million, and 16,650 tons produced in 1962-1963, valued at £5.7 million. Production of smallgoods increased by 1691 tons to 16,190 tons, valued at £3.6 million in 1964-1965, compared with 14.499 tons produced in 1963-1964 and valued at £3.1 million. The total value of production in the ham and bacon industry, including smallgoods, was £12.2 million in the latest year, compared with £10.6 million in 1963-1964 and £lO.l million in 1962-1963.
