NAPIER SOLD MOST WOOL

Napier was again New Zealand’s top wool-selling centre I for the 1965-66 season, according to statistics given by the New Zealand Woolbrokers’ Association. For the nine sales at Napier, 237,918 bales of greasy wool were auctioned as well as 27,770 bales of scoured wool. This gave a total greasy wool equivalent of 268,631 bales. Napier's nearest rival was Auckland, which, at 10 sales, quitted 261,891 bales of greasy w001—23,973 bales more than Napier—but only 92 bales of scoured wool. This gave a total greasy equivalent of 261,992 bales. Napier was the top New Zealand centre for the sale of scoured wool. The total sold by auction in New Zealand for the season was 30,982 bales.

Ltd., Auckland furniture retailer, maintained group sales in the year to May 31, but profit fell £1695, or 8.5 per cent, to £18,137, after £4541 for depreciation and £17,050 tax. Dividend had been maintained at 10 per cent and again will take £12,750. Earning rate on average funds was down from 8.8 per cent te 7.9 per cent, while the rate on capital was down from 15.5 per cent to 14.2 per cent.
