Rice Experts To Confer

(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) LONDON. August 14.

Rice experts from 41 countries will meet in Britain on September 26 to discuss how more rice can be made available to meet a growing worldwide demand.

The four-day conference, organised in collaboration with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation, will be held at Leamington Spa in the Midlands. Papers by world authorities, followed by discussions among the 100 delegates, will concentrate on three objectives: improvement of the world’s supply of rice: greater use of mechanisation in producing, harvesting and storing the crop: stimulating the development of methods which reduce the cost of production. Representatives from Malaysia, India, Pakistan, The Philippines, Thailand, and Australia will speak at the meeting.
