Sir Edmund Hillary To Lecture In U.S.
Sir Edmund Hillary will leave New Zealand at the end of this month for a 10-day lecture tour of California during which he will publicise New Zealand’s outdoor attractions.
Accompanied by Lady Hillary he will leave Auckland for Los Angeles on August 28. The tour is being sponsored by Air New Zealand and the Government Tourist Bureau. Talks on Maori culture and the possibilities for family travel and camping in New Zealand will be given by Sir Edmund Hillary. He will also give press and radio interviews, appear on television, and visit Disneyland where he has been invited to climb a model Matterhorn. At the end of the tour Sir Edmund Hillary will begin final preparations for his eleventh expedition to the Himalayas. This year he will build the first hospital clinic in the Everest area.
