Car Drivers Fined
Two car drivers were fined in the Magistrate’s Court at Lyttelton yesterday as a result of a collision in Norwich quay on June 18.
Traffic Officer D. W. Simpson said Terrence Ralph Weir failed to give a signal when he stopped his vehicle suddenly. A car driven by Stephen Edward Maddock crashed into the back of Weir’s car. Weir was fined £2 on a charge of failing to give a stopping signal and Maddock was fined a similar amount for being unable to stop his vehicle. TRAFFIC OFFENCES The Isaac Construction Company, Ltd., was fined a total of £4 for four breaches of its goods service licence. For having no heavy traffic licence, Rhind’s Transport (Lyttelton), Ltd., was fined £4. Port Carriers, Ltd., was fined £4 for failing to carry a certificate of fitness for a trailer. Noel Jarden was fined £6 for exceeding axle weight. Colin Bernard Campbell was fined £3 for having no warrant of fitness. FOUND IN BAR Kay Andrews, aged 20. was fined £4 for being in a hotel bar while a minor and £5 for giving a false age. WILFUL DAMAGE Peter Stanley Norris, aged 17, a workman, was fined £1 and ordered to make 10s resti-
tution on a charge of wilful damage to a bicycle. He pleaded not guilty. NOXIOUS WEEDS The following were fined for failing to clear their property of noxious weeds:—Norman Kirby, £5: David Bray, £1; Albert Lugg, £3. PARKING OFFENCE Alan William Bell, a watersider, was fined £1 for parking in a prohibited area on the waterfront.
