Ecumenical Decrees

(N Z. Press Assn—Copyright) VATICAN CITY, August 9. Pope Paul will order into effect on Friday all remaining parts of Vatican Ecumenical Council decrees not already in force, the Vatican announced today, the associated press reported. Involved are five decrees among the 16 that the Pope and the Bishops of the Roman Catholic Church approved during the 19621965 council. They deal with Bishops’ powers, religious orders, missions, the laity, and Christian education. The other 11 decrees are already in operation and include such things as changes in the Church’s Mass and public worship, ecumenical relations with other Christian churches seeking eventual unity, and attitudes toward Jews and other nonChristians.
