Yorkshire, the leader in the English ebunty championship, lost its first three wickets with only 23 runs on the board against Essex at Leyton, when chasing a target of 156 in 115 minutes. The team was only 26 runs short, with 15 minutes remaining, when rain stopped play. At Ilkestone: Worcestershire beat Derbyshire by three runs. iWorcestershire 8/210 (65 overs) and 107. Derbyshire 9/18 (65 overs) and 134 (J. Eyre 61, N. Gifford 8/54). Worcestershire 12 points. At Leicester: Leicestershire beat Kent by seven wickets. Kent 197 and 100 (C. Spencer 4/27, J. Cotton 3/14). Leicestershire 190 and 3/100. Leicestershire 10 points, Kent 2.
