England Precarious In Women’s Test

(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter —Copyrigh: > LONDON. England was in a precarious position at the end of the second day's play in the third and deciding women's cricket test against New Zealand at the Oval. The home side, with three second innings wickets down, was still 65 runs behind New Zealand’s first innings total of 224 for nine declared. Resuming its first innings. England added only 16 runs for the loss of three wickets before declaring at 154 for nine. New Zealand started badly

—losing four for 53. P. Blackler and C. Oyler added 93 for the next wicket in 80 minutes. Blackler, having hit eight fours in a splendid 68, fell to a brilliant one-handed catch by J. Moorhouse at long-off. Four wickets then fell for only 17 runs before Oyler and J. Lord shared in an unfinished last wicket stand of 55 in an hour. At that point New Zealand declared. 77 runs on.
