(N Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, Aug. 9. Tenders from seven New Zealand firms to build the drive-on, drive-off berth at Mechanics Bay for the Auckland Harbour Board had been received by the closing date today.
The work, expected to cost £650,000, is due to be completed by next July. A drive-on, drive-off cargo ship has been ordered by the Union Steam Ship Company, for trade between Auckland and Lyttelton from mid-1967 The Union Steam Ship Company has also ordered two drive-on, drive-off ships to run between Auckland, Wellington. Sydney and Melbourne from mid-1968.
