4½lb Drug Haul

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 27. Police last week recovered 4}lb of marijuana, the largest single police seizure of a narcotic in New Zealand, Mr W. J. Meade, S.M., was told today. Two men before him admitted charges relating to narcotics and were remanded for a week for sentence. John Colin Wassell, aged 28, a seaman, appeared on charges of possessing a narcotic for the purpose of selling it to another, and two other charges of giving and supplying a narcotic to others. William James Robson, aged 31, a seaman, admitted possession of a narcotic. Senior-Sergeant R. C. Joyce, said the police vice squad last week searched a flat in the city seizing 2jlb of marijuana and next day, when Wassell arrived at the flat, a further 2Jlb was found in the boot of a car he arrived in.
