SOLD FOR £47,000

A building at 144, 146, and 148 Lichfield street was yesterday bought by Kodak New Zealand, Ltd., for £47,000. It was sold by the District Public Trustee for the estate of Mr G. Mitchell. Eventually the residue of the estate will go to the Salvation Army (two-fifths), the North Canterbury Hospital Board (two-fifths), and Presbyterian orphanages (onefifth). Mr C. S. Reid, branch manager of Kodak, said last evening that the firm planned to expand its business in the South Island as much as possible, and changes would be made to the building. The company had been a tenant of part of the building for many years. Mr Mitchell had been dead for many years, and another building owned by the same estate, at 128-130 Lichfield street, will be sold by auction on August 17.

The sale to Kodak was made by Ford and Hadfield, Ltd.
