Spaak To Retire

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) BRUSSELS, July 28. Mr Paul-Henri Spaak, a Belgian statesman and one of the founders of the European Common Market, has decided to retire from political life, well-informed sources said yesterday. Mr Spaak, who is 67, has sent a letter resigning bis Parliamentary seat to the president of the Chamber of Representatives (Lower House), Mr Achilles Van Acker. He left the Government last year after serving his country six times as Foreign Minister and twice as Prime Minister. Mr Spaak was also President of the first United Nations General Assembly and I Secretary-General of N.A.T.O. | for four years.
