Summonses For Debt

Sir, —Is it correct that after a summons for debt has been filed with the Magistrate’s Court, it may take the court several months before the summons is served to the party concerned? If this is so it looks as though the evader of debts sits in the box seat.—Yours, etc., CURIOUS. July 26, 1966. [The Registrar of the Magistrate’s Court (Mr P. D. Clancy) replies: “Civil summonses for debt are being served within approximately three or four weeks from the date of their issue at the present time. Should ‘Curious’ wish to telephone me relative to any particular summons, I will be happy to discuss the matter with him.”]
