More Fijians Coming The board would probably be getting Fijian labour instead of the Indians who had in the past come from Fiji, the secretary-manager (Mr F. J. Foley) told the North Canterbury Nassella Tussock Board at its monthly meeting yesterday. He said that Air New Zealand, which had been acting for the board, had apparently retired in favour of the Fijian Workers’ Union, and this would probably mean that the board would be getting only Fijians. “I don’t know how the union came into the picture, but it has made it very easy for us to get men,” he said. If the the Fijians proved less successful, the question of Indian labour could be taken up with Air New Zealand.
