Reprieved
A tree described by Cr. J. S. Scott as a magnificent specimen of eucalyptus, 100 years old, at Earnlea terrace, Cashmere, was reprieved by the Heathcote County Council on Tuesday evening. The council disagreed with a works committee recommendation that Mr R. F. Armstrong be allowed to remove the tree at his own expense, and decided not to approve its removal until an inspection and report from councillors. The tree is half on private land, and half on the road.
