CHINA’S PLEDGE

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) TOKYO, July 17. China today assured North Vietnam that it stands “ready at any time to take all necessary actions” in support of the war in Vietnam, a Peking broadcast said.

The Chinese Prime Minister, Mr Chou En-lai, said the pledge stands “no matter what United States imperialism might do” and until the Communists “won final victory” in South Vietnam, the New China News Agency reported. The broadcast said Mr Chou made the statement after the North Vietnamese Ambassador to China, Mr Tran Tu Binh, handed him a copy of President Ho Chi Minh’s order to mobilise reserve officers and rearguard forces in North Vietnam.
