STOLEN RAFT

Police Look For Lamp

A 10-man Beaufort inflatable life-raft, valued at £277, has been stolen from the motor vessel Tuhoe which is tied up at the Kaiapoi wharf. A green navigation lamp, valued at £4O was also taken from the ship. The raft is approximately 9ft 6in in diameter and stands 4ft high when inflated. It is fitted with a fluorescent canopy and it is believed to be orange and black. The raft and several other Items of survival gear were in a cylindrical fibre-glass container, about 4ft by 2ft. It is painted white.

The raft, which is used on most sea-going vessels, could be used as a children’s paddling pool. The police are also looking for the green 9in navigation lamp.
