BUILDING IN WELLINGTON
Record Of Nearly £2lm. (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 14. Building activity in Wellington reached a record during the last financial year, according to the city engineer’s annual report. The value of buildings under construction in Wellington is £20,863,921, excluding nearly £4 million of Government and Wellington Harbour Board projects. In the previous year the total value of alt building was more than £15.5 milion. The city engineer (Mr J. S. Roberts) said in his report that 2428 building permits worth £11,809.846 had been issued during the year ended March 31. This was 10 per cent above the average of the previous three years and could have been higher, but for the Economic Stabilisation (Building Construction) Regulations, 1965.
