Law, Charlton In N.Z. Soccer Tour

"The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON. D. Law and R. Charlton, two of the world’s greatest soccer players, will tour New Zealand with their club, Manchester United, next year unless they are required by their countries for international matches.

A member of the New Zealand Football Association, Mr J. Cowie, who is at present in England for the F.I.F.A. meeting, stated this in a report tabled at Tast evening’s executive meeting of the N.Z.F.A. “It was agreed that these players will be in the touring party of 18 players unless they are required by their countries,” said Mr Cowie. "They will then leave for Australia to play seven games before returning to New Zealand later for a Saturday fixture.” He said Manchester United's manager, Mr M. Busby, would allow his team to play only 10 games on tour, and that the trip must not last more than a month. “Australia wanted eight games, and we wanted three, but we had to settle for seven and two,” reported Mr Cowie.
