Hepatitis At School

(N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, July 14. The Mataura School is the source of a hepatitis epidemic. Another eight cases of hepatitis were reported in Mataura today to bring the total cases in the last 10 days to 32. The medical officer of health (Dr. T. R. Fogg) has asked that the school be closed for a month in the August holidays instead of the usual two weeks. The town clerk (Mr I. S. Watson) said it was obvious the epidemic had originated at the school. Most of the 24 cases of hepatitis last week were children.
