Presbyterians play a very important part in New Zealand’s primary production, according to Dr. J. D. Salmond in ‘Outlook,” the official magazine of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand. The percentage of Presbyterians engaged in farming, about 29 per cent, is higher than the Presbyterian percentage of the total population, 22 per cent, he says. “Presbyterians make outstanding contributions to the leadership of Federated Farmers, the Women’s Division of the Fanners’ Union, and to the Young Farmers’ Club movement. Several elders are national leaders in farmers’ organisations.”
