Adoption Of Asian Children
Sir, —How far ahead do these families look before they seek to adopt these children? When they grow up, whom do they expect them to marry? Would Mrs X like to see one of her sons marry one of them? It is all very well to say what attractive little tots they are and what a Christian job the National Council of Churches is doing in bringing them to New Zealand. What is the National Council of Churches doing about the adoption of white illegitimate children .in New Zealand? Mrs X mentions “part-Maori and part-Fijian” but there are plenty of white ones as well. Perhaps Mrs X and the other “suitable families” will be able to do something to improve the present moral standards of the rising generation in New Zealand.—Yours, etc., Y. June 17, 1966.
