Citius Firm Favourite In Rosehill Sprint

(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) SYDNEY. The champion filly, Citius which won the Doncaster Handicap on April 8, returns to racing today and will start a warm favourite in the six furlong Flying Handicap at Rosehill. Citius 1® already a clear favourite for the Doomben Ten Thousand on July 2, and a win today will see her firm in the big race market. Although bookmakers are taking no chances today, some observers believe Gillus will have a tough task. She will be carrying 9-3—Blb more than weight-for-age, and she has not raced since the Doncaster and the going, which is likely to be soft, will not suit her. The New Zealand-bred colt, Fair Summer, which is engaged in both the Ten Thousand and the Doomben Cup, is second favourite for today’s race, following his win at the course two weeks ago.

Levitator, which has won his last two races, Is third favourite, and another New Zea-land-bred starter, Port Fair, could go close. Port Fair has not the class of Citius but is in good form and has a big pull in weight. Prince Murat, a light-weight entry for the Doomben Cup (11 furlongs), which will be run on July 9, is the early favourite for today’s Rosehill Handicap over a mile and a quarter. He ran a great third at Randwick last week, losing eight lengths at the start, but catching up to finish close behind Trevors and Carnival. Prince of Fashion, second favourite today, will be on trial for a start In the Doomben Cup, and will be trying to overcome a jinx which has had him second on his two starts of the distance. Also in today’s field will be New Zealanders Gay Song, Carnival, Mustang and Synful.
