MASSEY UNIVERSITY OF MANAWATU PALMERSTON NORTH. NEW ZEALAND CHAIR OF FRENCH THE Council of Massey University of Manawatu has established a Chair of French and invites applications from suitably qualified persons. The Professor appointed will also be the Head of the Department of Modern Languages. At present the department consists of two senior lecturers, two lecturers and a junior lecturer, and is responsible for the teaching of French, German •nd Japanese. At the less advanced levels, French and German are taught to extra-mural students. In 1966, 103 Internal and 91 external students were enrolled with the department. The Professor will be responsible for the work of the department as a whole, chiefly but not exclusively within the Faculty of Humanities. Language laboratory facilites will be available In 1968, and it is anticipated that these will be used to provide language courses for science as well as arts students in the future.
