HUGE GAS FIND
Discovery In South Aust. (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) ADELAIDE, June 16.
Huge reserves of saleable natural gas have been found 500 miles north of Adelaide, it was announced today. The reserves were found in the Delhi-Santos, Gidgealpa and Moomba fields by reservoir engineering studies. Santos, Ltd., said today that 1.4 trillion (one million, million, million) cubic feet of saleable natural gas had been established in the reserves of 2.3 trillion cubic feet The finds are considered sufficient to support a pipeline from the fields to Adelaide.
The cost of the pipeline from Gidgealpa an'd Moomba to Adelaide had been unofficially estimated at 40m dollars (£l6m). The Adelaide-Port PirieWhyalla industrial complex would probably be served by South Australian natural gas.
