U.K. Success Predicted (Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, June 12. The first English record released by the Wanganui-born singer, Johnny Devlin, could take a “Kangaroo-type” leap up pop lists, according to a pop singer, Kenny Lynch. Writing in the Sunday newspaper, the “Sunday Citizen,” Lynch says few people would have heard of 25-year-old Devlin unless “you’re an Australian, a New Zealander or one of the Beatles. But stand by mate, here he comes.” Devlin is bidding for British chart honours with his record “Hung On You,” which “is a powerful piece of work with a cracking arrangement."
