Meeting On Milk Solids Next Week
The meeting to discuss the solids-not-fat content of milk supplied to Christchurch, which the Minister of Health (Mr McKay) asked for, will be held on June 20. The Minister asked the Christchurch committee of supply to call the meeting.
Members of the Christchurch Metropolitan Milk Board will attend, and Dr. M. M. Burns, principal of Lin-
coln College, will be the chairman. “That seems to be a very, very large percentage not passing the test,” said Mr H. E. Denton, chairman of the board, yesterday, when a report on samples of milk tested by the Health Department in April was received. Dr. L. F. Jepson, the Medical Officer of Health, reported that of 53 samples taken in April, 18 were satisfactory and 35 failed the solids-not-fat test Mr W. E. Olds said that April was usually not a bad month in that respect. June and July were usually the worst months. Dr. Jepson was asked to comment on the figures, but at his request the matter was discussed later in committee.
