ENGINEERS’ REUNION

70 Expected In Christchurch

Between 60 and 70 former members of No. 23 Field Company, Royal New Zealand Engineers, will gather in Christchurch today tor their annual reunion, their first in the South Island.

Although battalion or regimental reunions are well established in New Zealand, the company probably is the only one to hold an annual reunion.

Until this year the reunions have been held at Wairakei (with attendances of up to 150) because most men of the unit came from the northern part of the North Island.

The 23 Field Company served in Fiji, New Caledonia, Guadalcanal and in the Treasury Islands from 1941 to 1944. The islands were the to 1944. The Treasury Islands were the first British territory to be recaptured from the enemy by British troops
