BIRTHS AND DEATHS
There were more births, deaths, marriage notices issued and registry marriages last month than there were in May last year, according to the statistics for the Christchurch district.
There were 440 births, 212 deaths, 182 marriage notices issued, and 36 registry marriages. In May last year the figures were 402,199, 135, and 22
In the first five months of this year, the number of marriage notices issued increased from 1001 to 1115, and there were 206 registry marriages, compared with 157 last year. There were 2286 births and 1021 deaths, compared with the 1965 figures of 2177 and 939.
