Leading Roman Catholic laymen from 18 countries have urged Pope Paul and the church hierarchy to change official teaching on birth control as soon as possible.
A strongly-worded document sent to archbishops throughout the world warns that the church runs the risk of losing its moral authority unless its attitude changes.
